Ayr State High School

Ayr State High School is a comprehensive State Secondary School and is staffed according to school size and needs. The school staff consists of teachers (professional staff) and a range of Ancillary Support workers (para-professional staff).

School Structure consists of:- four (4) separate but interdependent groups.

1. Senior Administration

Role of Principal

The Principal performs a vital role in delivering the vision of Education Queensland. The leadership of Principal is critical to improving the educational outcomes of students in their schools. The Principal has a major influence on developing the quality of teaching and learning and nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.

Role of Deputy Principal (DP)

The Deputy Principal plays a vital role in delivering the vision of Education Queensland. The leadership of Deputy Principals is critical to improving the educational outcomes of students in their schools. The Deputy Principal has a major influence on developing the quality of teaching and learning and nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.

Role of The Head Of Department (HOD/HOSES)

Heads of Department focus on curriculum leadership – participating in delivering the vision of Education Queensland and developing the quality of teaching and learning and nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.

3. Teachers

The largest single section of Staff are the professional teachers who work in teams with Senior Leaders and are responsible for, and engaged in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning. Teaching Staff and some other Staff are also engaged in a range of Co-Curricular Activities.

A mix of Ancillary Support Staff work in the school on a full-time or part-time basis. They work in a variety of areas including the General Office area, Grounds, Science, Resource Centre (Library), Student Services Team (SST), Teacher Aides and Cleaners. These staff members provide a mix of support for students, teachers, Senior Administration and general school operations.
